It has been witnessed that Important Truths or discoveries have always brought rebuke from society. People always adhere to their accepted beliefs even if there are strong evidences justifying the true facts. These beliefs are strongly inculcated in their minds by their elders/society. People believe that these beliefs have been framed by their ancestors out of their experience in life. They do not wish to violate these beliefs which would indirectly mean demeaning their ancestral dogma.
Important discoveries have always experienced negativity from society. In olden days, Church always used to believe and preach that Earth is supreme body and Sun and other planets used to revolve around the Earth. Later when Galileo proved that actually it is the Sun which is stationery and all the planets revolve around it, there was strong criticism from the society. Church was reluctant to accept this fact and people did not wish to violate the Church’s preaching.
There was belief in earlier days that diseases were a result of evil spirits possessing the human body. Later when the fact came out that diseases are caused by microorganisms like bacteria, virus, the society refused to accept and remained adamant over the superstition until the medicines proved their effect in curing diseases.
With advent of computers, there has been drastic improvement in work efficiency. Majority of manual work for example calculation, manipulating data is now automated. Still today, in certain offices, elder people are reluctant to accept computer as a reliable substitution and choose to complete their work manually.
Important truths usually take time to refute the already accepted beliefs in society. However in today’s era with advancement in scientific technology, people are now ready to accept new discoveries or truths based on facts presented rather than passed on beliefs which are hypothetical.
