eating sweet foods produces acid in the moouth, which can cause tooth decay. (hih acis levels are measured by low pH values)
The line graph shows the number of pH which it was produced by sweet food such as : friuit sugar, cane sugar, and honey, which it can cause tooth decay, from moment eaten to 40 minutes after eating.
Overall, it can be seen that fruit sugar, cane sugar and honey can produce low pH level. Although they come from neutral pH level, they can turn to low pH level after eaten, in which cane sugar produces the lowest number for pH that can cause tooth decay.
Before eat, fruit sugar, cane sugar, and honey is in the same level of pH, 7. After 5 minutes the pH level decreases sharply, in which cane sugar reaches the lowest position, around 3.5, followed by fruit sugar, 4. And the highest number is reached by honey, around 5.
From 5 minutes to 10 minutes, both of cane sugar and fruit sugar increase sharply. On the other hand, honey is remaining stable from 5 minutes to 10 minutes and begins to recover from 10 minutes onwards.
In summary, the cane sugar could make tooth decay faster than the other sweet foods. It is because cane sugar produces the lowest pH at the 5 minutes, around 3.5, followed by fruit suar and honey. Honey is the best sweet food to choose because honey appears an even less risky substance.
