The chart demonstrates what proportion of their income people spend on petrol in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It is divided into three sections: the poorest, middle income and the richest.
The clearest fact which can be seen from the graph is that the biggest difference is between the least wealthy people: while American low-class people spend around 5 per cent of their income, English people spend only from 0.5 to 2.5 per cent. Although, as far as people earn more money in America their percentage of spending on fuel continues to drop, it is opposite in the United Kingdom where the percentage gradually increases. It is also worth to mention that the expenditure is only equal for British and Americans, who are in the lower-high class. Even more, the poorest Americans spend nearly the same proportion of money as the richest United Kingdom’s citizens.
