IELTS task 1
The bar chart compares the amount of money spent on fast foods by different income groups in Brittan. It is clear from chart that people who have high income in the UK tend to spend considerably high amount of money on instance foods than people in other income groups. This tendency is more obvious when consider the amount of money allocated to buy hamburgers and pizzas by these people. In fact, approximately 40 and 20 pence per week are spent by each person in high income group to buy hamburgers and pizzas respectively, and these are the highest amount of money spent on such food items. People in average income group also spend high amount of money to buy hamburgers. But it is not as high as the figure of high income group. As far as the amount of money spent on fish and chips is considered, each person in average income group spends the highest amount of 17 pence per week on this food item.
Typically, people in low income group spend the lowest amount of money on fast foods. An average person in this group only spends weekly about 17, 15 and 10 to buy fish and chips, hamburgers and pizza respectively.
The line graph reveals how the consumption of fast food changed over the two decades of period from 1970 to 1990. According to the graph, the consumption of chips gradually decreased from 300 grams in 1970 to about 225 grams in 1990.However,there were up ward trends in consumption of hamburgers and pizza. This tendency is more significant in hamburger consumption which increased dramatically during the 80s decade by about 350 grams.
To sum up, the consumption of pizza and hamburger are highest in high income group and figures for these food items also showed growing tendency from 1970 to 1990.
