Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
What other measures do you think might be effective?
Today’s vehicle volume is highly increasing and it leads to traffic and pollution problems. The government of certain nations are focusing on these problems mainly for the nations whose population are rapidly increasing. In a developing country like Indonesia in which the public transportation is not satisfied enough yet it leads the people to take another choice by owning their own motorcycle or car by which it contributes to traffic and pollution problem. I highly disagree with the government policy to increase the price of petrol as the best way to solve such problems.
Other measures that i think might be effective is by building public transportation like Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Train, Bus and sort of things which are comfortable and safe so the people do not hesitate to take public transportation to go to their desired place. By creating comfortable and safe public transportation, the people will have no doubt to take it and traffic and pollution problems are gradually solved.
Other thing to solve the problems is by limiting the vehicles for each family. We are currently see the rich whose cars are more than enough for each family members. By having each car for each person in one family, it creates to traffic and pollution problems. One car is enough to take four to six persons outright so why don't we limit the car for our benefit as well?
In conclusion, I personally disagree with the increasing of petrol as the best way to solve traffic problems. There are other better ways to do so by building a comfortable and safe public transportation and by limiting the used of each vehicles for certain people.
