Currently, the mass of population preferred to live in large cities, even though in the past, the majority of people tend to choose to live in the village where they were born. As the result, people’s lifestyles have shifted.

There were numerous benefits of living in a small village. Firstly, people knew each other and everyone spoke to everyone else. When grandparents were been close with their neighbors, their grandchildren may be friends with the neighbor’s grandchildren, too. In a situation in which a family was in a trouble such as a financial problem or they need someone to take care of their children temporarily, there was likely appeared someone who was generous enough to help them. Consequently, no one ever felt lonely. Secondly, there was always someone to look after the children to teach them nice behavior, so children grew up being well-behaved and had a good personality. Also, children could play safely in the street, and the crime rate was low.
Thirdly, children had the ability to develop in a pure way. They don’t interact a lot with social media or advanced devices, so it wouldn’t affect them a lot their mentality, especially during puberty. Children played together instead of keep sitting in front of the computer screen for hours. Villages don’t contain many possibilities like modern cities, therefore, children suffered rough conditions in order to make them become stronger both physically and mentally. It was an easy life, but everyone was happy.

On the other hand, there were a number of disadvantages. The closest elementary school was in the next hamlet and the nearest high school was many miles away in a town. This meant that most children did not get a good education and the majority of people were forced to labor in agriculture. If the younger generation was ambitious, they had to move to a better place and fewer people had the chance to do this. Als0, when someone was ill, it was a long way to the nearest hospital.

Overall, In my view, my grandparents' generation was happy. However, in today's world, with all of the possibilities accessible, I feel it is a shame to be restricted to a tiny hamlet. There are more advantages to living in a major city nowadays.
