Aside from social media, children nowadays prefer to spend their free time playing games. Games can bring benefit to the player and harm at the same time if it is not played wisely. Some games available today are proof to stimulate creativity of one’s but it can also bring bad influence.
There are features that make video games interesting to play with. The first features would be the character they have. In addition, the availability of music, colours and theme often make player enjoyable to play games. Certain games can also stimulate children’s creativity. For example popular game such as ‘The Sims’ enocurages player to build their own Kindom through their handwork. Additionally, there are ‘levels’ where player can achieve. It is therefore, they often aim at higher level. These feature can therefore, indirectly show adult life to children that they have to work hard to achieve something.
On the other hand, if played too much, games can become addictive. Different “level” often make the player to keep playing till they can reach their targeted level. This can also be seen in today’s cyber café where most of the user are young children playing war games. Boys now, prefer to spend money on internet café rather than studying.
In conclusion, it is no doubt that games if it is not control, can bring a bad impact on the player. Guardian should work closely to monitor the time that children are allowed to play games. In addition, choice of games should also be taken into consideration.
