Some people think that spending a lot on holding wedding parties, birthday parties and other celebrations is just a waste of money. Others, however, think that these are necessary for individuals and the society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
In modern, society we have witnessed the significant increase in the amount people tend to spend for wedding. While some take it as a mere waste of money, some consider it as a social necessity and others find this as opportunity to showcase their wealth. In my view, an excessive spending for wedding is not desirable, as it’s repercussion to the society could be enormous.
Some people take such event as an occasion to reciprocate to close cohort of people, who stood by every ups and downs in bride and groom’s life. In doing so, they tend to make and event perfects form every aspects, and eventually end up in spending more. Also, those in favor of spending argue that once in a lifetime events requires grandeur and extravagance. They associate happiness or the success of events to amount of money spent. Indeed its, true that Weddings are the special moments in ones life and demands a special attention. However, my view this correlation is faulty and unwarranted. Such happiness is largely transient in nature and lasts not more than a day an event is celebrated.
Such lavish spending for weddings also have negative consequences to the society. Human has natural inclination to imitate and tendency to compete. A lavish wedding in a society might result in a rat- race for show- off, where every individual member, though reluctantly, has to follow the societal trend. Otherwise, one may risk being ostracized by the society. Query: is society always comprised of people with sound wealth? Definitely not, in a same society some are very wetly, whereas others might still have to struggle to sustain their living. If such is the case, imagine how will the people try to catch up a trend? Almost all of them seek for a loan from a financial institution, and spend rest of their life making monthly payments.
To sum up, in spending for special occasion one should be careful to understand the ill –effects their behavior could bring into society. In my view, squandering money for wedding does has a potential to tear apart a social fabric that holds our society together. Indeed such spending is a waste of money.
