The table below compares the features of underground railway systems in different six cities: London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles.

It can be clearly seen that London underground is the oldest which was opened in 1863 and Paris is the second one opened in 1900. Then this trend was followed by the opening of railway systems in Tokyo(1927), Washington DC(1976), Kyoto(1981), and the youngest one is Los Angeles(2001).
