[Work] It is said that work is the most important thing of people's lives. Without the success of career, life will be meaningless. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
With the ever-increasing unemployment rate, whether or not career is of utmost importance has become a widely debated topic. While many believe that jobs give people a sense of fulfillment that makes life meaningful, others maintain that work does not necessarily contribute to a meaningful life. Given that a meaningful life does not necessarily arise from a thrive and robust career and travelling can also account for a meaningful life apart from working, I strongly believe that success of career does not imply a meaningful life in all ways.
Regarding the sense of satisfaction, work is not the only means to fulfill ourselves since there are many alternatives readily available. For instance, doing volunteer works, taking part in the community centre or joining a political party can make also themselves less empty and lonely. If we access the issue holistically, we can find that work can only benefit themselves and the corporations rather the society at large by being involved in their own community. Therefore, they can actually make their life even more meaningful beyond work.
In terms of broadening their horizons, it is also important to get to see what life in a foreign country is like. As an example, people visiting overseas countries will experience the customs, traditions and taboos of that nation. Learning about other cultures would make their life more meaningful because it gives people the golden opportunity to reflect on their own culture. As a result, international travel helps people not only learn about the culture of other countries, but also about the significance of travelling.
Having discussed the alternatives of making their life inspirational and the great importance of travelling abroad, I firmly disagree that work is the only factor which contributes to a meaningful life. Moving forward, if people can reconsider the priority of career in their life, I am confident that people would rejoice their life.
