The goods transported by road rose significantly from 1974 to 2002. It was near a hundread million tonnes in 2002 while the goods transported by pipeline increased slightly from 1974 to 2002. It was twenty one million tonnes in 2002. For goods transported by water and rail was near 40 million tonnes in 1974. But, the goods transported by water overtook the goods transported by rail and rose slightly until 1994. The goods transported by water declined from 1994 to 1998 and rose around ten million tonnes in 2002. In contrary, the goods transported by rail decreased until 1995 and did not change until 2002.
To sum up, the given data indicated that the goods transported by road, water and pipeline had increasing trend until 2002 in UK. In fact, the goods transported by rail was stagnant in UK.
