The line chart illustrates how many commodities were delivered using four various transport in the United Kingdom from 1974 to 2002.
Overall, the most popular goods transport during the reported year was road, while the least used transport modes were a pipeline.
Moving to the detail, the highest number of commodities transported using the road in the initial year (70 millions of tonnes). The figure rose gradually in the following years, to reach the highest number at the end of the period (97 million tonnes). There were two varieties of goods transport (water and railroad) showed a similar trend (just about 40 millions of tonnes) in the beginning. In contrast, the smallest number of goods was transported using pipeline (around 5 millions of tonnes).
Water, however, transported approximately the same amount of goods for more than a decade before fell to around 50 million tonnes in 1998 and then climb to more than 60 millions of tonnes in the final years. Furthermore, the railroad witnessed a moderate change from 1978 to 1994, before it climbed to the initial figure in 2002. finally, the number of goods transported using pipeline increased more than 4 times at the end of the period (20 million tonnes).
