The table statistics illustrate the total percentage of distinct groups of families who were living under the poverty line in Australia in the twentieth century.

Evidently, the figures represent 11% of all households of Australian families or 1,837,000 people impoverished over the period. By comparing, the level of poverty among single aged person was higher by 6% than for the ages couple group in Australia in 1999 by 4%.
