The bar chart illustrates the average figures for rainfall over the course of a calendar year for Australia last year. While the line graph indicates the average rainfall in Australia for the past forty-year.
In a general trend for both the previous year and the average of the last forty-year was similar. the rainfall in Australia decreased from a peak at the beginning of the year to lows in the months in the middle of the year and then these figures again rose towards the end of the year.
The line representing the accumulation of the average rainfall from the previous forty-years begins at around 80mm in January and then dropped sharply to about 30mm in April. Rainfall continuously fell to just under 20mm in September before rising steadily to approximately 60mm at the last month of the year.
Although two sets of data shown were the same, there are some differences. The amount of rainfall for last year just started at 70mm, which is 10mm lower than those for the past forty-year. Figures for rainfall remained above 60mm from February to March before reaching the bottom of the chart at a low of about 10mm in August. By contrast, the average rainfall for last year witnessed a significant increase at the end of the year, with more than 40mm in November and December respectively.
