Overall, there were considerable upward trends for the number of people living by themselves in all ages groups. Another interesting point is that this figure for elders from 55-64 years old always made up the largest proportion over the period.
Looking at details, started with a similar point at over 2% for 37-54 years old and around 3% for 55-64 years old in 1850 the number of people stayed alone experienced the same trend over the period given. These groups still remained the three highest positions by 1950 with around 3% and 9% respectively and witnessed dramatic changes in 2000. This figures for age group 37-46 and 55-64 had a double jump to 7% and 17% compared to significant increase by 8% for group aged 47-54.
By the other hand, phenomenon that youngsters in the age of 17-26 and 27-36 who lived alone had appeared since 1950 and 1900 in turn. This figure for both groups grew remarkable, group 27-36 ranked the third place with 8% which was four times higher than its initial point compared to 5% for age group 17-26.
