competency exams, by subject and gender, during the period 2010-2011.

The bar chart indicates the number of students who were successful in their high school competency exams in terms of subject and gender in the 2010-2011 period. In general, girls performed better than boys in most subjects in the competency exams.
According to the graph, students did best in some subjects including Computer Science, Mathematics and Foreign Languages. Results in Mathematics and Foreign Languages for both gender were roughly the same. Whereas there were some significant differences in other subjects.
Looking further we can see that girls had the highest pass rate in Computer Science, which was 56.3% and was around 14% higher than the boys. Chemistry, furthermore, had the biggest gap in the number of passed students between boys and girls, where over than 16% more girls passed. The only subject that boys performed better than girls was Geography, with just over one third of boys passed and that amount was 10% higher than the result for girls.
