Overall, only agriculture, which had the highest level of workforce in 1960, saw a downward trend making it the sector with the smallest number of workers at the end of the period.
At a closer look, although the number of agricultural workers was three times greater than the figures for other industries at the start of the period, with nearly 65% of the total workforce, it declined dramatically to about 15% in 2000, when the figure became the lowest of all.
On the other hand, others showed an upward trend with service workers slightly outnumbering industrial workers until 1980. Despite the fact that both increased gradually in the half of the period, from 1980 onwards, the former saw significant growth to over 60% in 2000, whereas the latter remained stable at around 25% until the end of the period.
