As regards the percentage of houses possessing without cars, it comprised about under half in 1971 and then went down slightly to just over 40%, before falling substantially to approximately 30% in 2001.

In contrast, the figures for households with one or more cars grew remarkably to 45% and 21% from 1971 to 1991,respectively, after which the former dropped marginally to more than two-fifths in 2001. Then, the latter rose minimally to less than a third.
