The bar chart shows type of media to get daily news, by age group 2011
The bar chart gives information about how people from different age group access to daily by using three main forms of media in 2011. Overall, social media is seen to be most chosen by the young generations while radio is utilised most by older generations. It is also obvious to say that all age ranges choose microblogging as a platform for receiving daily news.
A detailed look into the chart shows that social networking was most popular with the 10-to-17s and 18-to-29s, which made up for 80%. However, this figures were in inverse proportion with the age ranges as the older people are, the less frequent they use for social apps and websites, 50% for the 30-to-49s, 40% for the 50-to-64s and one fourth for up to 65-years-old group respectively.
40% of people from 10 to 17 selected radio as their main sources of getting daily news, which followed by above 90% for people from 18 to 29 and exactly 90% for the 30-to-49s. The number of radio listeners continued to decrease to just under 90% with the 50-to-64s and around 85% for the 65s.
Microblogging was the least common type of media being used among three kinds, started at 20% with the 10-to-17s. This figures grew by 5% to 25% for the 18-to-29s but again turned back to under 20% for the 30-to-49s, 15% for the 50-to-64s and just approximately 10% for the 65s.
