The reports of marriages and divorces between 1970 and 200 in the USA and the civil status of grown-up Americans in 1970 and 2000 are shown in the graphs. Overall, the decline of marriages was gradual along the given period while Divorces experienced fluctuation. In addition, married people had the largest proportion for both years( 1970 and 2000).
It witnessed a gradual decline in the number of marriages from 2.5 million (m) to 2m between 1970 and 2000; it remained same for the first two periods and began to fall down in 1990 until 2000. Meanwhile, the number of divorces faced a noticeable rise between 1970 and 1980 from 1m to around 1.5m and it started a drop in 1980 until 2000-it had the same value as in 1970.
The second bar chart illustrates the percentage of marital adults' American status in 1970 and 2000. Interestingly, married status occupied a major share of American people which were 70% and 59% in 1970 and 2000 respectively. Married and widowed statuses decreased from 70 and 9 to 59% and 5% respectively. On the contrary, people who never married and divorced increased in the same period of time.
