Cambridge 7 Test 1:

The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The table indicates the comparison of the consumption on three different categories between Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year 2002.
It is clear that the largest proportion of expenditure concentrated on foods, drinks and tobacco while leisure and education accounted for the lowest percentage.
In terms of foods, drinks and tobacco, the percentage of consumption was highest in Ireland and Turkey at around 29% and 32% respectively while people in Italy spent about 16%, half the figure of Turkey. However, their figure for clothing and footwear was largest at 9%. In the other four countries, the expenditure in this category was at a similar ratio between 5.5% and 7%.
According to the table, consumer spending on leisure and education was actually low compared with other categories. The highest percentage was in Turkey at 4.35% while the lowest proportion was even at only 1.98% in Spain. The other countries have an equivalent proportion that was around 2% to 3%.
