The bar chart compares population and wealth shares in different parts of the world.
Generally, it is noticeable that in the majority of regions the population shares are higher than the other proportions. Both Indian and African populations of 10% and 16% respectively, own less than a percent of the wealth. Furthermore, despite accounting for the highest 23% of people, China has a modest 3% of population share.
By contrast, the patterns for North America, Europe and rich Asia-Pacific are reversed. Although North America and the rich Asia-Pacific account for approximately 5% of the global population, they possess 34% and a quarter of the global wealth. However, Europe is reported to have the highest compared with the other countries. There is a significant 15% of the population in Europe, while its wealth is about a third of the global economy.
Overall, the majority of different areas contribute more to the global population than to the economy, whereas the countries with the highest wealth distribution have the least percentages of people.
