The bar charts illustrate average expenditure of families in one country every week in 1968 and 2018 including eight different sectors.
Overall, housing and leisure saw the most significant growth among the given sectors. It is clear that people spent the least amount of their spending on fuel and power.
Among these eight sectors, the spending on leisure witnessed the biggest increase, went up from around 8% at the beginning to 23% and became the most-spent activity in 2018. Moreover, housing and transport spending also saw an upward tendency.
However, there was a marked decrease in the figure for the remaining. The largest amount of decline was seen in food. Its figure halved in 2018 compared to that in 1968 which accounted for the largest percentage of expenditure, about 35%. The only one sector that remained unchanged after a 50-year period was household goods, which leveled off at approximately 8%.
