The chart below gives information about how families in one country spent their weekly income in 1968 and in 2018.
The given bar graph below illustrates the average household weekly expenditure on different items and services in a particular country in two years: 1968 and 2018.
Overall, it is clear that the investment on food, energy, fashion and personal goods decline over the period, while the reverse was true for housing, transport and leisure. However, similar amount was spent on household goods in both years.
According to the graph, in 1968, the food accounted to be the most heavily expensed area, consuming over third portion of the weekly income, which became half after 5 decades. Similarly, under 10% of the earning went on fuel and power, clothing and foot wear, and personal goods in 1968, and after half century, the percentage of investment on these items dropped to under 5. In contrast, the expenditure on housing, leisure and transport grew over the period. The first two nearly double from roughly 10%-19% and 9%-22% respectively, while the last one rose only by 6% on top of 8% in 1968. Finally, 8% of the money earned were squandered on household goods in 1968, and this ratio did not go under any changes in 50 years.
