The bar chart gives information about the number of hours that married males and females work daily in paid and unpaid employment.
Overall, wives tend to spend a greater amount of time on unpaid work at home than husbands in both age categories. It is also noticeable the younger age cohort works more hours than the older ones.
Regarding paid employment, the average married 24- to 44-year-olds work roughly 7 hours per day while their spouses work around 5 hours. The same pattern can be seen in the senior category, with the average hours worked per day by men was an hour more than that for women. By contrast, the number of hours spent on at-home unpaid work by wives was almost twice more than that for their husbands in both categories.
Moreover, married men aged from 24 to 44 are more active in employment than those aged from 45 to 64, with the total hours worked by the former was approximately 2 hours more than for the latter. The amount of time spent by women in employment was roughly the same in the two age groups.
