The bar chart illustrates worldwide sales of 4 different types of electronical games (mobile phone games, online games, console games and handheld games) during 7-year period from 2000 to 2006. Units are measured in billions of dollars.
Overall, by far the most money was spent on handheld games every year during the period given. The number of sales of handheld games, mobile phone games and online games increased while console games’ sales decreased over the seven years.
In 2000 merely console and handheld games were sold globally, starting at around 6 billion and approximately 11 billion, respectively. The sales of handheld games grew continually, reaching its peak at 17 billion in the final year. On the other hand, the sales of console games experienced opposite trend, dropping over the 7 years and hitting a low of 3 billion in 2006.
In regards of the sales of online and mobile phone games which began in 2001 and 2002, the amount was at just 0.5 billion and 1 billion, respectively. The sale for both games increased fixedly peaking in the final year (for mobile phone games at around 7 billion and online games at 9 billion).
