The bar chart illustrates the number of male and female students stduying six major subjects in a US college in the year 2010
Overall, Finance was the most attractive area of qualification among both sexes, while the opposite was true for Engineering. It is also clear that dramatic differences can be seen in the figures for teenagers of both sexes selecting to enrol in maths
As can be seen from the chart, the number of male students and female counterparts were with approximately 230 students. The figures for Accounting were relatively smaller, with 170 for men and 200 for women. As for Marketing, the survey showed that female were more likely to choose this subject as as their major than male students as this course had about 120 students , which was higher than that of male ones (about 80 students).
Looking at the chart in more detail, the second most popular subject for males was Mathematics with 200 students, compared to nearly 60 students for females. In addition, the number of male students enrolling in economics was 150, which was almost twice as much as female students. It seemed that Engineering was the least attractive course when only 50 female pupils opting for it as their major subject , so as to male pupils
