The chart below shows the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying fulltime or part-time.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graphs illustrate the number of male and female students pursuing full-time and part-time higher education in UK in the following years: 1970-1971, 1980-1981 and 1990-1991.

Overall, it is clear that there were more people studying fulltime than part-time for both genders in all three periods. Additionally, the number of women in full-time courses increased gradually over the years, whereas the figures for men had minimal changes.

In 1970-1971, there was around 1000 fulltime male students and 700 female students in Britain. Over the next decades, the number of women rose to appoximately 800 in 1980-1981 and more than 1000 in 1990-1991. On the other hand, the opposite pattern can be observed for the men.

In spite of being much lower than fulltime students, the number of part-time students of both sexes increased significantly over the years. In 1970-1971, there was less than 100 part-time male students and an even lower number was recorded for the female. 20 years later, the amount of men and women entering part-time education were pretty even, at around 200 each.
