The chart below shows numbers of adults participating in different major sports in one area, in 1997 and 2017.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given chart illustrates the number of mature people participated in the seven most important and renowned sports for the period of two decades i.e 1997 to 2017.
It is quite evident that gentle walking has the most participated sports of all time. Starting from 1997 almost 50,000 people took part and similarly till 2017 the ratio increased to 55,000 approximately.
Similarly, Football and Hiking takes lead in the analysis, where almost 30,000 people took part and the bar graph raised up to almost 49,000 in 2017.
On the contrary, surprisingly, the least played game seem to be Cricket particularly in the year 2017 where numbers only rose to 8000. As per the graph indicates, people did participate to the extent of 27,000 approximately but the graph showed diminishing behavior as the years passed.
Alongside Cricket, Basketball does not seem to gain much popularity in these twenty years as it started from around 9000 and reached the maximum up to 22000 only.
All in all, Gentle Walking, Jogging, Gym, Football and Hiking seem to be going steady with the numbers as compared to other sports with drastic changes such as Basketball or cricket.
