Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart compares the proportion of families who have their own house and rent for living inEngland and Wales during the past 93 years since 1918.
It is noticeable that there were more households lived in a rented accommodation before 1971, the year that had the equal proportion of both owned and rented house for families. From 1971 to 2011, the families who were able to afford houses reached a higher rate than those lived in rental houses.
In 1918, more than 75% households choosed to rent an apartment for living, and this trend decreased slightly by around 10% in 1939 and stayed a stable rate for the next 14 years. With the percentage of families in owned accommodation increased, the number of people who choosed to buy a house was equal with the people who prefered rent a house in 1971.
The number of households living in owned accommodation increased constantly and rose to the peak in 2001, with nearly 70%. However, after 2001, the trend stopped and ther proportion of owning the house droped by around 5% in 2011.
