The chart below shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008

The bar graph depicts the proportion of UK citizens who consumed five types of food and vegetables per day between 2001 and 2008.

In general, all categories showed an upward trend, with some fluctuations. Women were the highest food and vegetables consumers while children were the least one thorough the period.

At the beginning of the period, women who ate fruits and vegetables were significantly higher than others, with over 20% per day. Then the figure for women kept rising steadily until it reached its peak with approximately 34% in 2006. After that was a slight decline in the next two years and finally ended up with just over 30% in 2008.

The other category, children who ate fruits and vegetables started at more than 10% in 2006 then remained constant until a sudden growth to over 15% in 2004. Since then, the figure for children increased rapidly then hit the highest point at 25% in 2007 and finished with less than 25%. The percentage of men eating fruits and vegetables shared the same progress as the children, started at roughly 17% then had a considerable growth to 25% at the end of the period
