The bar chart illustrates minutes trends in three categories of calls in the UK during the period of 7 years between 1995 and 2002.
As can be seen from the graph, the number of local fixed line calls was at its minimum above 70 billion minutes in 1995, then it was growing modestly until reaching the peak in 1999. However, from this year onwards, the growth of call minutes was suddenly replaced by the downward trend, that reduced the number of minutes from 90 to 72 billion by 2002.
Looking through the national and international perspective, we can see the upward trend in call duration. In 1995 the amount of call minutes was equal to approximately 38 billion before increased broadly during the remainder of period. Overall, the international and national line ones closed the 2002 up to 60 billion, that just 12 billion less than on the local line. Throughout the whole period, the remaining category of call is the least popular in the UK. From the beginning to the end of the period it underwent the upward trend, increasing the number of minutes from 5 billion by almost 9 times. That correlates to 45 billion minutes by 2002
In general terms, the total number of telephone calls and its duration grew dramatically during 7 years, except the local line calls , which has accompanied with decline by the last years.
