The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.

The bar chart illustrates the expenditure of time by people in the UK on 3 different types of calls between 1995 to 2002.
It can be clearly seen that the local calls were the most common type, in terms of overall minutes they spent. Mobile phones had the lowest number but this category also saw a dramatic increase in minutes used.
As shown in the illustration, the British used local calls for about 70 billion minutes and about half of the amount of time for national and international calls in 1995. Whereas mobile calls were only used for around 4 billion minutes. In the following four years, the data of three types all ascended steadily.
In 1999, the time they used local calls reached a peak at 90 billion minutes and they had a downward trend through the remaining years. By contrast, the rise in the other two types of calls is still an upward trend. By 2002, the time used by national and international people went up rapidly over 60 billion minutes as well as the figure for mobiles significantly rose just about 40 billion minutes.
