The chart suggests the total amount of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls which are separated into 3 types in the UK between 1995 and 2002. Overall, it is obvious that time consumed by local - fixed line was the largest, while that taken by mobile phones was the smallest over the 7-year period.
For phone calls occupied by local fixed line, the whole trend rose in the first 4 years, and then reported a decline from 1999 to 2002. The amount of minutes started from 70 billions in 1995 and reached its summit by roughly 20 billions up to 90 billions in 1999, before finally falling back to its beginning quantity by the end of the chart.
By comparison, the tendency for domestic and international fixed line reported a gradual increasing pattern all the time. Starting as less than 40 billion minutes in 1995, the phone time climbed steadily in the following years and reached to approximately 60 billion minutes in 2002.
Not mentioned is the figure for mobiles, it reveals the similar rising tendency compared with that for national and international fixed calls, albeit to different numbers. The time was merely less than 5 billion minutes at the starting point and grew slowly before 2000. However, the soaring speed accelerated during the following period (the number was around 40 billion at last).
