The chart below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
The bar chart and the table illustrated the export earnings of petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewelry, agricultural products and textiles, and each of the increasing and decreasing rates over the two years from 2015 to 2016.
To begin with, there were upward trends in the four products except for gems and jewelry in this period. Looking at the percentage change in value, the rate of textiles showed a significant rise by 15.24%, which reached over $30 billion, followed by engineered goods and petroleum products by 8.5% and by 3%, respectively, either of which earned over $60 billion. Agricultural products stayed about the same, but there was a slight increase of 0.81%, which received almost $30 billion.
On the other hand, although gems and jewelry were the third-largest export earnings in the five categories at almost $40 billion both in 2015 and in 2016, they were the only one category that saw downward trends. Their export earnings declined by 5.18% between 2015 and 2016.
In conclusion, the increasing trends in five categorized/classified items except for gems and jewelry were shown, and the total export earnings of them reached over $220 billion in 2016.
