Overall, it is obviously seen from the illustration that people of Britain doubled number of overseas visitors into the UK. Also, France was the most popular destination for British holidaymakers.

Therefore, number of overseas visitors doubled over two decades (about 10 millions in 1979 and roughly 25 millions in 1999), there are not significant increase, however, steady raise is shown. Notwithstanding, overseas visitors did not show any dramatic rise, British citizens traveled five times more in 1999 (about 52 millions) than in 1979 (just above 10 millions).

Getting back to the details, around 11 millions British holidaymakers visited France in 1999, in contrast to least visited destination (Turkey) with approximately 2.5 million tourist in 1999.
