The pie charts illustrate the mean values of three kinds of nutritional factors percentage-wise, in four typical meals that are consumed in the United States of America. All of these nutrients may prove unhealthy if consumed in excess.
Overall, the diagrams depict the percentages of sodium, saturated fats and sugars in everyday breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. The dinner seemed to have more concentrations of sodium and fats, while sugars were mostly found in snacks,
Firstly, breakfast and snacks were found to contain only small quantities of sodium, only 14 percent. The lunch seemed to carry quite a good amount at 29 percent, whereas the dinner took lead at 43 percent.
Secondly, saturated fats were least likely to be found in breakfast, while lunch and super had 26 and 37 percent respectively.
Thirdly, added sugars showed some variation from the common trend. It was recorded to be highest in snack at 42 percent, whereas breakfast contained the least amount at 16 percent, which was surprising.
