Overall, dinner meals contain the most sodium, while the percentage of added sugar is highest in snacks. It is noticeable that the overall proportions of the three types of nutrients in breakfast are lower than any other meals of the US people.
As can be seen from the charts, the percentages of sodium in breakfast and snacks are the same, 14%. Both meals also contain the relatively approximate figures of saturated fat, 21% for breakfast and 16% for snacks. However, the figure for added sugar in snacks is nearly three times higher than that of breakfast, 42% and 16%, respectively.
Turning to the other features, 29% of the total nutrients in lunch is sodium, followed by saturated fat, 26%. The proportion of unhealthy sugar the US consumes at lunch is 19%, whereas the figure for dinner os 23%, which is significantly lower than those of saturated fat and sodium in the same meal, 37% and 43%, respectively.
