The provided charts depict the owned electrical appliances in a household as well as the hours of house chores done by using them from 1929 to 2019.
Overall, the refrigerator was nearly unused in 1920 which became the most poplar appliances in 2019 along with the vacuum cleaner. Moreover, the number of hours of housework in a week decreased since 1920 as well.
In 1920, 40% of the houseworks were done by washing machine which was followed by a steady increase of the machine's usage till 1960, reaching just 70%. Although the appliance was nearly 60% in use in 1980, its utilization rose up to more than 70% in 2019. Similarly, only 30% of the houses were able to buy and run the vacuum cleaner 1920 but its usages expanded dramatically over the years and became quite famous as all houses in 2000 owned one. Finally, the refrigerator was not available in 1920 and less than 10% of houses used to own one. Just like the vacuum cleaner, this instrument showed full availability in 100% of the houses by 1980.
People used to spent 50 hours per week doing household works in 1920. While the weekly hours reduced sharply till 1960 (20 hours weekly), after 1960, the hours consumed by household chores in a week had decreased gradually and by 2019, almost 10 hours a week was needed to complete those tasks.
