Essay topics:

The charts below show local government expenditure in 2010 and 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The charts illustrate the budget spending of the local government within five years (from 2010 to 2015) in terms of percentage.

Looking from all perspectives, it is readily apparent that a five-year period has made an obvious difference in government expenditure in various sectors. Regarding the most significant one, spending for education has a 3% lower after five years, from 24% in 2010 to 21% in 2015, whilst the defense sector has the same result, from 17% to 14% in 2015.

In contrast, the local government spends more on the development of welfare in 2015, with its figure rising from 8% to 13% in 2015. Likewise, the budget on interest on borrowing grew bigger since it doubles its percentage in 2010, covering 10% in the pie chart. The sectors that cover below 5% of the 2010 chart, such as culture and leisure and transport, witnessed lesser spending in 2015, with a mere percentage of 1.

To sum up, compared to 2010, the local government in 2015 seemed to invest more spending over education, and the defense sector, with its enlarging interest over developing welfare and paid lesser attention to entertainment-related sectors.
