The charts below illustrates the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market.

On the first graph it shows the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad in a 10 year period. There was an obvious upward trend except for year 1991. From year 1985 the recorded number of Japanese tourists was approximately 5 million, then rose up to 11 million in the year 1990. The upward trend was interrupted in the year 1991 which then decreased to merely 10.5 million. On the following year the number of Japanese tourists had a slight increase which resulted to almost 12 million, moreover the increasing trend continued up to 1995 reaching the peak with roughly 15 million recorded Japanese tourists travelling abroad.

The second chart shows the Australia's share of Japan's tourists market. In 1985, 2 % of the Japanese travellers went to Australia. It continued to increase to almost 5% in a span of 4 years. The percentage dropped to approximately 4% in 1989, however it managed to rise again a year after and the upward trend continued up to year 1993 with more than 6% then dropped to 6% in 1994.

In conclusion, number of Japanese tourists increased as the year passes by.
