Essay topics:

The charts below show the number of Japanese tourists traveling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market.

The chart gives information about how many Japanese tourists visited abroad in the 1985-1995 year period and the Japanese tourist market shared by Australia.

There were 5 million Japanese that traveled abroad in 1985. The number steadily increased till 1989 when it reached over 9 million. After 1989, there was a sudden increase, however, the number fell lately. Then the number of Japanese travelers that visited abroad started to rise, and in 1992 the number was nearly 12 million. The next year the rise was considerably small that number practically never changed. Yet, in the following years, the number of Japanese tourists substantially grew so much that it reached over 15 million.

To look at the second table, it shows the percentage of how many of them came to Australia. It is clear that there was a gradual increase in the first four years and it rose from 2% to a bit under 5%. Even though in 1989, the percentage decreased, in the later years it kept increasing till it was a bit over 6% then within 1994, it fell to 6%.

The overall picture is that Japanese tourists kept rising throughout the 1985-95 year period. Also, the percentage of them that came to Australia increased either. Except in both, there was a decrease in some years even if it did not affect the trend which was upwards.
