The two charts illustrate the competence in speaking foreign language of British tertiary students in proportion, between 2000 and 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the charts is that the number of students who could speak only Spanish accounted for the most proportion in the both years.
In detail, there was a negligible increase in the proportion of speaking only Spanish students, by 5%, from 30% in 2000 to 35% in 2010. As same as speaking only Spanish students, the percentages of students who were able to speak twor language and another language also went up by 5%, from 10% to 15% and 15% to 20% respectively. Regarding to students speaking no other language, in 2000, while the percentage was the second most, at 20%, however, it halved in 2010 which was equal to students speaking Frech only and German only.
A noticeable information here is the students who speak only German maintained the proportion in the both two years, which is the lowest percentage, at 10%.
