The pie charts illustrate the causes of choosing bicycle or car for journeys to work.
It is clear that the main reasons for choosing bicycles are health and fitness that are provided by riding on a bicycle and less pollution that bicycles produce. Furthermore, the total of these reasons is 60% with both of them having a 30% share. The last three causes of choosing a bicycle are approximately equal and take between 12 and 15% for faster journey time, low costs and a lack of parking problems.
The major reason for driving to work is the comfort of the journey that cars provide and it takes 40% more than the second cause by almost two times. The next main reason is the huge distance to work and it takes 21%. The last three reasons are almost the same in importance and take from 11% for the safety that a bicycle cannot provide to 14% for being able to carry stuff to work and for higher speed.
