The picture illustrates the process of predicting the weather of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology is based on real-time data.

At first glance, it can be seen that there are 4 distinct stages, beginning with collecting weather data from various ways and ending with broadcasting the most accurate information of weather forecast to public media.

Looking at the picture with more detail, there are 3 ways of collecting and analyzing weather data. The first way is the satellite, where the data is received and exported for analysis as a satellite photo. These data can also be transferred to a radar centre and displayed on a radar screen or synoptic chart. Secondly, incoming data possibly is collected by the radar and analysed on a radar screen or synoptic chart. The last way involves receiving data by drifting buoys and displaying on a synoptic chart for forecasting.

After that, the forecast results are centralized and prepared on computers to get ready for broadcasting to the public media, including television, radio and telephone. Nowadays, people can also find out the weather forecast on the Internet.
