The illustration demonstrates the process of generating electricity in a hydroelectric power station.

Overall, water flows from the river and passes from intake to turbines throughout the day and turbines generate the needed electricity. At night water return to their initial position throughout the pumping system.

By looking precisely on the figure, it can be seen that the dam's intake opens in the morning and let the water passes through it. while water intact to the turbines it causes torching of turbines and this movement create the electricity which goes to the generator throughout the pipeline. Afterward, the generator sends the electricity to the national grid by the power lines.

The water which torques the turbines maintains in a low-level reservoir until night. At night water pumps it into the high-level reservoir and this process continues every day.
