The diagram illustrates the different phases in the production of electricity from geothermal energy in power plant.
Overall, the process has five main steps, starting from pumping cold water down the ground, and ending with transmitting electricity to national grid system to meet the energy needs.
At the first stage, the cold water pumps down a 4.5km long pipe under the ground to geothermal zone through the injection well. In this zone, the water is heated under the optimal condition owing to hot rocks which plays a significant role for the heat resource. The high temperature water then pumps up to the condenser by the production well directly opposite the first one, placed on the ground.
At the fourth step, steam vaporizing from water in condenser activates the turbines to power the generator which produces the vast amount of electricity. Finally, the resulting power is distributed for certain purposes via various electricity grids.
