The line graph demonstrates the amount of carbon dioxide per capita in four different countries from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, it can be seen from the chart that there was an increase in the number of CO2 each person in Italy and Portugal while the UK and Sweden witnessed an opposite trend. The British were responsible for the largest amount of CO2 all the time.
In 1967, the UK and Sweden comprised nearly 11(MT) and 9(MT) respitively, followed by a downward trend. The former declined by around 2(MT) and the later went down considerably, prior to going up to around 10(MT) over first 10 years. Both two countries are counscious, especially Sweden, to curb CO2 due to the serious consequences.
While each Italian emitted about 4(MT), the quantity of CO2 in Portugal was more than 1(MT) in 1967. There was an upward trend in both lands with less than 8(MT) and 6(MT) respectively in 1997, being on a plataeu a duration of ten years. Throughout 40 years, the volume of CO2 emissions in Portugal was the smallest among four European areas.
