The line graph below gives information about the average how much carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted in 4 countries, namely United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, it could be seen that these emissions in metric tones saw a downward trend in Sweden and United Kingdom while the amount of CO2 rose in each years in Italy and Portugal.
Firstly, the amount of CO2 at United Kingdom in 1967 was above 11%. It stayed unchanged between 1967 and 1977. Then it steadily fell in each 10 years. In 2007, it declined about 8.5%, compared to 11% in 1967. In Sweden, it had a fluctuation from 1967 to the year 1987. The amount of CO2 in Sweden reached the highest point in 1977, about 10%. After that, there was an insignificant decrease about 5% in 1977 to 2007.
Secondly, these CO2 emissions rose in Italy and Portugal. In Italy, there was approximately 4% in 1967 then it had a dramatical increase in 1977. It witnessed a slight growth between 1977 and 1997. Then it stayed unchanged from 10 years started at 1967. In Portugal, these emissions was about 1.5% in 1967. It climbed steadily between 1967 and 1987. It compared a sharp increase at 1997 when it reached approximately 5%, that was four times as high as in 1967. In 2007, it was in stable when there had no change between 1997 and 2007.
