The provided diagram depicts the way by which electricity is harnessed from water power. As illustrated, four stages are required to produce hydroelectric energy.

In the beginning of the process, water flow is collected in a reservoir and passed through an intake structure into a dam in order to be raised to create falling water. In the second stage, the falling water is regulated and flowed down through a sluice gate to a turbine. The pressure water flow creates, triggers the turbine to spin.

In summary, it can be seen that the procedure begins with trapping water in the reservoir and ends with the transfer of the hydroelectric power to its various destination via transmission lines.
